Nissan Cabstar on Russian market.
According to the Autostat analytic agency (see table), the Nissan Cabstar. There are about a thousand of such cars in all-Russian park which is less then their real number. In fact the most part of Nissan Cabstar cars are equipped with special bodies (goods vans, refrigerators) or special add-ons like truck lifts, and according to the old, still Russian rules their manufacturers change the brand of the car to its. As a result, many of the imported vehicles with the globally recognized symbol without any trace disappear in the expanses of one-sixth of the land and documented are revived already under the brand, known only to a narrow circle of professionals. For example, “MPZ”, “Technopolis” or “Mosdesignmash”. And base chassis are in TCP only under the column “Special notes”, that’s why their models are not included to the statistics. There are also concrete reasons of moderate volume of Nissan Cabstar fleet. Firstly, this small size vehicle has rather low niche in demand structure.
Gross vehicle weight is 3.5 tons, and the most popular in this class modifications with all-metal vans are not foreseen. Secondly, the low cost of a new car – 1.2 million rubles, which is a third higher than, for example, equal in capacity FIAT Ducato, so the client does not delve into the technical details, more often makes the choice not in favor of “Japanese”. And 3-rd, in the Asian part of Rf, instead of second-hand Cabstar cars are bought and registered similar cars Nissan Atlas from the Japanese market. There are even more such right-hand drive cars in Russia than there are cars assembled in Europe. Nevertheless it is not difficult to find quite a fresh left-hand drive Cabstar.

Modifications.
Nissan Cabstar – the export title of light trucks assembled cabover family Atlas, tracing its lineage back to one thousand nine hundred and seventy-three years. The chassis is a frame chassis with a longitudinally located power unit, 5-speed manual transmission, a rear beam “banjo” axle on leaf springs and independent front suspension with wishbones and longitudinal torsions. In other words, the “pickup” scheme, as at the nearest relative – Nissan NP300, is acceptable. Until 1924, the company exported its light-duty trucks from the Land of the Rising Sun on all continents under the name Datsun Cabstar (recall that this brand “put on the shelf” until better times in 1986), and the internal nomenclature model called F22. In 1922 it has been replaced by the F23 model, the main difference in the exterior was rectangular headlights instead of round. Later, there were fourteen years of small upgrades, until, finally, in two thousand six years, the company introduced a modern model F24 with large, vertically extended headlamps. During this period of time in the history of Nissan Motors itself came out a lot of decisive changes, namely, the main non-Japanese manufacturer of Cabstar trucks became the plant Nivisa in the Spanish city of Avila near Madrid. Nissan got this enterprise in 1987 from the local company Ebro, which produced there small trucks of half-bonnet assembly with a flatbed.
The inhabitants of the Land of the Rising Sun, renaming the whole family of trucks to Nissan Trade, continued to assemble them in Avila for seventeen years – until two thousand and four years. But in 1998, having decided that there are enough all-metal vans on the European market without them, they started parallel creation of small vans on their own platform – the Atlas Cabstar family of even stronger and stronger frame cabover trucks. A number of adaptations were made to the design of F23, creating an independent, purely European model TLO. The Asian front suspension on the longitudinal torsions with virtually linear line of elasticity did not behave in the best way during temperamental driving on the Apennine and Iberian serpentines. With the newest – on transverse double leaf springs with a progressive feature – the Cabstar has a much better grip on the road. Another choice of engines, other equipment, and no Oriental exotica like tiny 12-inch wheels on the rear axle, prestigious on city trucks in the Land of the Rising Sun. Differences from pure-blooded Japanese were in the design of the cabin – if the Asian version F23, survived the restyling, looked at the world with slanted eyes, the European (it was also dubbed – Cabstar E) remained with rectangular headlights right up to the change of model. Most of the used cars in the European part of Russia are Spanish TLO age 6-12 years, they are mainly on the secondary market. Officially the TLO model, as well as the F23, has not been supplied to Russia.
The presence of a hydroboard, if you need it, is a big plus for used cars.
In two thousand and four years, the European Cabstar slightly updated: they removed the letter E from the designation, put the latest radiator grille with 4 windows instead of 3, changed the engine palette and gearbox – there was a hatch to install KOM. The list of modifications includes versions with a wheelbase of three variants: 2,500, two thousand nine hundred and three thousand four hundred mm, and a gross weight of five variants: 2,800, 3,200, 3,400, 3,500 and 4,500 pounds. The latter two belonged to the heavy-duty series with twin rear wheels. The light series cars come only with single-row three-seat cabs, the 3.5- and 4.5-tonne cars have both single-row and double four-door cabs with 6 seats. The latter is unattainable with the shortest base.
